Home & Away
Home & Away is a combined day and overnight camp experience. Campers in this program begin at Camp Robin Hood and then travel with their counsellors and cabin-mates to Camp Walden. This program is suited for campers being introduced to overnight camping for the first time; those who have commitments in the city; those who appreciate the security of travelling with a group and those who find making adjustments difficult. The program is designed for boys & girls who are currently in grades 2 and older.
Robin Hood, Walden AND Madawaska - A GREAT FIT!
Our goal is to help campers make the adjustment into an overnight camp setting as comfortable and seamless as possible. We have the unique ability to accomplish this goal because of the unique relationship between our three camps.
- All Home & Away participants and their families are invited to a Spring orientation meeting where the directors of all 3 camps and the staff taking part in the program will be present to give an overview of the programs (along with a slideshow). A question/answer session also takes place.
- Home & Away cabin groups and counsellors travel together to Walden! This summer, upon arriving at Walden, Home & Away cabin groups will be joined by specially selected and trained Walden counsellors to assist in the integration of the Home & Away cabin into the Walden community.
- Howie and Sari, Camp Robin Hood’s Directors and Walden’s Co-Owners, visit and supervise the Home & Away Program every weekend! We hope that this contributes even more to campers’ and parents’ sense of comfort.
- All campers participating in Home & Away Options 1 & 2 are involved in a mandatory overnight during the Robin Hood portion. The fee is included in the cost of the program.
