Meet Our Directors
Sending your child to summer camp is an important decision. We believe becoming more familiar with the leadership of camp will help you arrive at your decision more comfortably. Camp Owners and Directors Sari and Howie Grossinger have each been on staff at Robin Hood for over 20 years. Their involvement in camp is a labour of love. Married for 21 years, Sari and Howie are the parents of 3 children (Jordanna 19, Cole 16 and Zane 12). Dedicated full time to camp, both Sari and Howie have professional backgrounds working with young people. Sari is a paediatric Occupational Therapist and plays a key role in meeting the needs of all of our campers and their families. By providing her personal attention to issues related to registration, grouping and problem solving, Sari forms the link between camp and home. Her leadership in coordinating our inclusion program for campers and staff with special needs has earned Robin Hood its reputation as a place for supportive and inclusive camping. Howie, a former high school teacher, coordinates the program at Robin Hood, and hires our qualified staff. From the development of creative activities, to training our staff, to leading our famous flagpole events, Howie is well known to all of our campers, counsellors and parents.
Camp is very much a family affair! Sari’s parents, Larry and Pearl Bell founded Camp Robin Hood on its current site 50 years ago. Today, Sari and Howie oversee the day-to-day operation of camp, while Larry and Pearl continue to provide daily support as they maintain important leadership roles at camp. Larry coordinates Robin Hood’s transportation program and Pearl provides leadership within our Health Centre and connects directly with our campers and staff during her health education activities at Pearls of Wisdom affectionately known as "POW". All of us at camp benefit immensely from Larry and Pearl’s continued support at Robin Hood.
Ehren Gluckstein has been a member of the Robin Hood staff for over a decade and over the last couple of years has made camping his full time career. Ehren is our full-time Assistant Director as well as the Director of our 'Robin Hood Programs' (Robin Hood Leadership Centre and Corporate Rentals). Ehren has worked in almost every area of camp – currently directing Robin Hood Sports Academy – which allows him to bring a unique perspective to camp. Ehren places great value in Outdoor Education and particularly enjoys the relationships he continues to develop with camp families, school groups, and corporate rental groups. Being in the office year round, Ehren is always happy to answer questions about any of our camp programs anytime!
Jeff Masterson has been on staff at Camp Robin Hood for over 10 years. He is the Head of Health and Physical Education at King City S.S. Jeff’s involvement in athletics is extensive. A former varsity football player at York University, Jeff has been the convenor for high school football in York region for several years. Jeff was the Director of Robin Hood Sports Academy from its inception in 1998 and now is part of the Robin Hood Director team overseeing all aspects of our summer program alongside Sari, Howie, Ehren and Michael. Jeff is also the proud Dad of Max and Spencer, two enthusiastic Robin Hood campers.
Michael Cohen brings a wealth of experience to his role as Director. A member of the Robin Hood family since he was a young camper, Michael is currently the Principal at Kettle Lakes P.S. in Richmond Hill. Michael’s knowledge of the educational system and his involvement in camping make him an invaluable resource to campers and staff at Robin Hood. Michael works regularly at camp liaising with parents on all matters related to the care of our campers. The tradition continues as Michael’s daughter Jaime and twins Justin and Kylie attend Robin Hood each summer.
