A Helicopter at Camp - WOW!!!!

Famous HollyHood Producer arrives at
 Robin Hood!
A Message from  Sari & Howie

RHAdventuresThe feeling of community and family could not have been stronger after a week that included Family Night and our Colour War program: "HollyHood". This past week reminds us that camp is a very powerful experience which creates incredible moments that can last a lifetime.  Many parents shared with us that our camp-wide program and our Family Night brought back their own memories of their camp days and how thrilled they were to see these memories created for their own kids. A huge thanks to our staff for their spirit and creativity in delivering the "Robin Hood Experience"!

As we look to a new session beginning August 3, we ask that you consistently login to the Robin Hood Parent Information System for updates on any changes to group and busing information. Please bookmark http://parentinfo.camprobinhood.ca for quick and easy access to this valuable method of communication at Robin Hood.

We look forward to an action-packed week starting Monday so please refer to our Summer Calendar link in this newsletter for all the details.

Have a great weekend!
From The Office
It was great to see so many families on Wednesday joining us for an awesome evening. We hope you enjoyed flagpole, always a fun time for parents and campers alike! It is wonderful to watch as our campers show their parents around the site and introduce them to all their friends at camp.

Family Night
Transportation Changes: Next Friday will mark the end of Session 2 at Robin Hood and Sports Academy. Please keep in mind that the camper population changes and so will many of our bus routes. Those families staying with us can check out the new bus information on the Parent Information System http://parentinfo.camprobinhood.ca early next week. Please note that many of our Junior Campers will be staying at camp on Wednesday for their Extended Day. This may mean that our buses may arrive a few minutes earlier than usual.

Re-registration: We don't want you to be disappointed. Some sections have reached capacity for our next session. If you are thinking of re-registering, please do it NOW. Please send us a note through the Parent Information System if you are interested.

Say Cheese!: New pictures are being added daily. Please visit Bunk1 to view the amazing shots we have been able to capture. Please use the pre-approved registration code 10064RH1 if you have not already registered. We also have some pictures posted from the 3 day Walden Trip on the Camp Walden website.

LEPPIES
We're closing out another fabulous week in the Leppies unit! This week at Camp Craft we made spider dogs around the camp fire, and at Sportball we played dodge ball. Also, when campers visited Arts and Crafts they made picture frames. We are very excited about our special day next week!

MUNCHIES
Wow! The summer is just flying by in the Munchies unit. This week we had an end of day cheer off and visited a haunted house at Music and Drama. At Arts and Crafts we made popsicle stick shapes and at Camp Craft we made spider dogs. Stay tuned for our Shrek special day next week...

JUNIOR BOYS -
ARCHERS & JOUSTERS
Another great week has come and gone. We had lots of fun at the specialties this week. We really liked 80"s aerobic week at Landsports. Way to find the toys in Andy's Toybox during Colour Wars.

JUNIOR GIRLS -
MAIDENS & LASSES
What an amazing week we had. Gymnastics was a lot of fun as we pretended we were spies on a mission. Colour Wars was a great time to show our spirit and energy. We can't wait for our Extended Day next Wednesday.

INTER BOYS
Inter boys ROCK!!!! After winning the Triple Crown for the first time ever (Cabins, Grounds and Moms Awards) we wondered how we could be more awesome this week. Well....let me tell you Colour Wars and the Inter Boys were a great match. Our strength, endurance and spirit helped all the teams. Way to go.

INTER GIRLS
The Inter-Girls have had such a great week! We cheered our hearts out at Senior Flagpole and moved our way from last place to first! We loved Landsports and their Aerobics themed activities. Can't wait for another great week!

SENIOR GIRLS
After an amazing weekend away at Walden, the Senior Girls have kept the energy high for options. With the Senior's play "Alice in Wonderland" coming up next Thursday, rehearsals are in full swing. Senior Girls are looking forward to our Hawaii: Sand and Spa Special Day on Monday, followed by our Survivor Themed overnight. What a great time to be a Senior Girl!

SENIOR BOYS
No matter the weather, sunshine was always shining on the Senior Boys. There was even a hint of a rainbow surfacing during Colour Wars. Senior Options was a hit again. There was a big demand in Campcraft to make Banana Boats....yum. We are looking forward to an awesome special day and overnight. See you then.

CIT/LIT
Colour Wars, Special Day, Game Day! The CIT/LIT's have not only had a chance to work in their units, specialty areas, and sport placements but they have had the opportunity to be involved in the planning and carrying out of camp-wide activities. All have had an amazing time making many memorable moments.

CAMPCRAFT
Camp Craft has been having a fantastic week.  The campers have been making spider dogs, a classic camp favorite.  In Senior Options, the campers even started a fire with a magnifying glass!  Campers are also learning survival and camp skills this week.

CANOE
The Canoe Challenge Cup kicked off this week, with units competing against each other to capture the Golden Paddle. Thanks to their hard work, the Munchies, Jousters and Inter Boys lead their divisions, but with one week remaining, it's still anybody's game. Good luck!

DANCE
This week at Dance we danced to the famous All 4 One from High School Musical 2. For Movies through the Ages week we played "Name that Movie" and "Dance the Camp Dance". Next week at Dance we are doing "Surprise Week".

GOA
GOA finished off the third week of camp with a wide selection of new bike jumps and plenty of happy silo-climbing campers on Family Night. Space week starts on Monday - you ain't seen nothin' yet!

GYMNASTICS
Campers snuck by security guards, found the keys to Officer Bob's diary revealing his deepest secrets, and climbed through a security laser case during SPY WEEK!!! Using their skills taught throughout the past weeks the campers completed their spy mission of the year!

KARATE
All the campers coming to karate have been enthusiastic, full of energy and eager to learn.  It was really nice to see so many familiar faces from last year but also to meet new campers and their counsellors.  We know session two is going to be awesome.  We are planning lots of different demonstrations and activities for each cabin and are looking forward to the next couple of weeks.

LANDSPORTS

Bringin' back the 80s?! Whhattt?! Decked out in spandex and neon that's what was going on at Landsports this week. We taught an Aerobics routine to help the campers have fun while getting exercise.

MUSIC & DRAMA
This week at the Haunted M & D Castle, we helped our strange friends Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Phantom find the things they were missing. We summoned the Witch to help us. Looking forward to next week - get ready to meet the world!

NATURE
Nature is all about choice.  This week campers have been planting an herb garden as well as making apple sauce!  We have some new additions to Nature, including bunnies and a bird!  Stop in at Nature and learn about and feed all of the animals.

SWIM
This week campers enjoyed amazing swim lessons, creative Colour War games and fun free swims. We couldn't ask for better swimming weather and hope for more next week. Keep swimming!!!

Robin Hood Sports Academy

This week at Sports Academy our players spent time learning new skills and practicing to get ready for Friday's Gameday.  Our Baseball players had a great time competing for the Gold Glove while our All Sports players developed their skills in Ultimate Frisbee and Volleyball and participated in our ever-popular Gladiator event. We were all shocked by the outcome of today's Dive-Off! Great job to all of our players for a solid effort put forth to earn TTE (Total Team Effort) points throughout the week - the competition is heating up!

Questions and Answers

Boy it sure has been hot outside these past few weeks. Robin Aid hopes you are putting your sunscreen on everyday before you leave home and we want to remind you how important it is to reapply your sunscreen after every swim and after lunch.

Q: WHY IS A HAT SO IMPORTANT IN THE SUN?

A: Because skin damage when you are young can lead to problems when you are older.  Don't forget to wear a broad-brimmed style hat to protect your face, ears and back of your neck. Plus, too much sun makes wrinkles on your face! YUCK!

Colour Wars

Camp Robin Hood was once again at the centre of the universe, as Michael Goldenstein, owner of Hollywood, helicoptered his way onto the Camp Robin Hood site, and transformed our camp into "Hollyhood: Colour Wars 2010". These were undeniably two of the greatest days ever at camp! We saw spirit from EVERY CAMPER AND COUNSELLOR representing Warner Bros. Studios (Yellow), Universal Studios (Green), Twentieth Century Fox (Red) and Walt Disney Pictures (Blue) as they took part in exciting events, ranging from camp-wide mass events to competitions within the unit - we even had parents take part in the action on Wednesday night at Family Night, representing their children's teams in a spirited "Musical Chairs" competition. In the end, Michael Goldenstein was thrilled with all four studios and how many tickets they sold, but decided his next movie would be awarded to Walt Disney Pictures for earning the most tickets! Congratulations and thank you to all staff for putting on this incredible event - and to our campers who enjoyed every minute of it! Check out the many movie trailers and other exciting videos on our YouTube channel!!!
