Cabin Counsellors - For Boys & Girls 4-13

Camp Robin Hood strives to create a feeling of community and a sense of belonging. That feeling often starts with the cabin group, 10-15 children and at least two staff supervises each cabin group. Your responsibilities will be to provide a safe and caring environment and to create and facilitate relationships with everyone in the cabin. Cabin Counsellors spend their days with the cabin eating meals as a group, going to scheduled periods together and providing your own programming on a daily basis. You are the camper's main source of support ensuring that they are safe, healthy and enjoying themselves. As a Cabin Counsellor, you will have a co-counsellor and will work under the direction of a Section Head.

Specialty Instructor

Specialty Instructors work in their area and teach campers the different programs that we offer at camp. Each day you will work with a different group of campers. They attend the Specialty Area with their cabin group and counsellors. Specialty Instructors will work under the direction of a Lead Instructor. Together they are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the specialty, skill development, teaching and programming. You should have a respectable practical and theoretical background in the area that you wish to instruct. Below is a list of our Specialty areas.
Archery, Arts & Crafts, Canoe, Campcraft, Ceramics, Climbing Wall & Ropes, Dance, Gymnastics, Landsports, Mountain Biking, Music & Drama, Nature, Swim


Sports Academy Coach

Sports Academy coaches work at our on-site specialty camp, Robin Hood Sports Academy. All coaching staff must be proficient in a variety of sports and have the ability to communicate and deliver instruction effectively. Coaches spend their day working with 2 co-staff supervising and instructing their group of 10-15 athletes in our All-Sport Program. You are the camper's main source of support ensuring that they are safe, healthy and enjoying themselves. Coaches are supervised by our Sports Academy Program Directors.

Special Needs Counsellor

Camp Robin Hood is very proud of its reputation as a camp that includes campers with additional needs. This role requires one to take additional responsibility for a assisting a camper with an identified need to successfully experience camp. This job will entail working within a cabin group as a co-counsellor while providing specific supervision to a camper with special needs. This position may be of particular interest for people wishing to work in this field as a career. Staff may be required to participate in additional training and will be supported daily by our Section Heads and Camper Relations Team.

Swim Instructor/Lifeguard

Members of our Swim Staff are responsible for the daily supervision and instructional programs in our pool area. Each Swim Staff member must possess current NLS, Swim Instructor and First Aid/CPR qualifications. Swim Instructors work with a wide range of age groups delivering the Red Cross instructional program. Lifeguard duties are combined with instructional duties therefore candidates should have previous experience in both skill areas. Our Swim Staff are supervised by our Swim Directors.

Home & Away Counsellor

Camp Robin Hood is proud of its affiliation with our overnight camp, Camp Walden. This program requires staff to work at both camps for part of the summer. Interested staff will be trained at both camps as part of pre-camp training and will have to attend additional information meetings in the Spring. Prior experience working in both the day or overnight camp settings is beneficial.

Camp Nurse

Our Health Centre is made up of staff who are currently RNs, RPNs, or those currently enrolled in their 2nd year or higher of a nursing program. As a camp nurse you will work alongside other professionals using a team approach to healthcare, utilize your nursing knowledge while at the same time providing campers and staff with a fun and healthy approach to camp life. Working with so many young people will allow you the opportunity to provide health education, promotion of healthy living, provision of first aid, emergency care, medication distribution and care for campers who are feeling unwell or homesick. By working as a member of a team you will increase their self-esteem and self-confidence, working both independently.

Section Head

Section Heads are responsible for supervising counsellors, staff and campers in cabin groups. You will be responsible for organizing programming for your unit, training, supervising and evaluating your staff and ensuring that all of your campers are enjoying themselves in a safe and caring environment. You will work under the direction of a Director. A Section Head requires strong organizational, planning and communication skills.

Lead Instructor

Lead Instructors work in their area and teach campers the different programs that we offer at camp. Each day you will work with a different group of campers. They attend the Specialty Area with their cabin group. Lead Instructors organize programming for their specialty, support their staff and assist the Program Directors in the supervision of staff. Along with their staff, they are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the specialty, skill development, teaching and programming. You should have a respectable practical and theoretical background in the area that you wish to instruct. You will work under the direct supervision of a Program Director.
