Swim Program
Camp Robin Hood has always been committed to delivering a high-quality swim program - and this remains to be a significant part of the Robin Hood experience. Our facilities include 4 in-ground swimming pools (all the teaching pools are heated and our pools feature diving boards and a waterslide), the quality of our swim qualified staff (Instructors & National Life Saving certified) and our instructional swim program ensure that our campers progress well and are safe in and around the water so that they can enjoy this wonderful activity.
All campers in the traditional Camp Robin Hood program receive daily swim instruction using the Red Cross Pre-School Swim Kids and Red Cross Swim Kids Program and for those that have completed these levels we offer Lifesaving Society's Programs as well. Camp Robin Hood campers who have completed Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 3 will receive two instructional swim lessons each day while campers who have completed grades 4 through 7 will receive one instructional and one recreational (free) swim each day. Each Friday all campers registered in the traditional Camp Robin Hood program will have a free swim in the afternoon. Our Munchies and Leppies (campers who have completed Nursery/Junior Kindergarten by the summer) are often grouped with their counsellors from their cabin group, their cabin mates and a swim instructor. In addition, their swim instructor meets them outside the pool area and will walk the campers to their swim area. During free swims on Friday afternoons these campers will have a more structured free swim as this will take place with their actual swim group. Due to the instructional nature of the daily programs, campers registered at Robin Hood Sports Academy relax during a recreational (free) swim daily.
Our unique Parent Information System will be updated during the start of each session with the Swim Directors/Instructors input to ensure that we have assessed your child's swim level accurately (at the start of the summer you will receive a login to your family's personal account. At times, campers do not perform up to their swim level in an assessment at camp for a variety of reasons, so keeping the parents informed helps ensure that we are working together as a team to help your child/children progress to the best of their ability. At the end of the camp session campers receive a swim history report that clarifies the program and defines the progress of each child.
