Sari and Howie Grossinger
Sending your child to summer camp is no small decision. (Trust us—we know.) Our family involvement began in 1961 when Sari’s parents, Larry & Pearl Bell took on the leadership of Camp Robin Hood. Married for 29 years, and working together at Robin Hood for well over 30 years, they pour their passion and know-how to make every camper, staff and parent experience the best it can be.
Sari & Howie’s impact as leaders has been recognized across Canada as they were the 2019 recipients of the Canadian Camping Association’s Jack Pearse Award of Honour for providing outstanding service to the national organization.
They are also the proud parents of 3 children who have benefited from the camp experience and now as young adults, are carving out their own professions. Jordanna, our current full-time Assistant Director who is also a Speech Language Pathologist. Cole, the Director of Special Projects at a successful Toronto start-up, and Zane, a Masters student at the University of Toronto’s and member of the U of T Varsity Volleyball Team.
Did you know that Sari & Howie are also the co-owners of Camp Walden? For the past 18 years, they have fostered the growth of many Robin Hood campers who have made the move from our country day camp to our wonderful overnight camp through our very popular Home & Away Program. Overall, creating safe places for positive growth, independence, and boatloads of fun are the guiding principles that make Sari & Howie’s leadership so impactful.
The individual connection that Howie and Sari give to each camper and staff is incredible. No stone is left unturned and every process has meaning and purpose.
