Camp Robin Hood and Camp Walden: The perfect day and overnight camp combination

As the first Ontario day camp to also operate an overnight camp, we are proud to call Camp Walden our sister camp! With a commitment to providing a day camp experience that feels like overnight camp, Camp Robin Hood is the perfect starting point for many kids’ first experiences of summer camp. The relationship between Camp Robin Hood and Camp Walden is more than a partnership; it is an integrated, family-driven model that provides children with a thoughtfully designed pathway from day camp to overnight camp. This unique connection, built on shared leadership, philosophy, and programming, ensures a supportive, consistent, and enriching camp experience for families. 

CAMP ROBIN HOOD OVERNIGHT PROGRAMS

For 2026: Home & Away & Back Home

This program, designed for campers completing grades 4 through 7, takes place during session 3 (early August) at Camp Robin Hood. Campers will enjoy a 4-day start to the session at day camp and then travel to Camp Walden for 3 nights (Friday to Monday) and then return to Camp Robin Hood (Tuesday-Friday) to close out their two-week “Home & Away & Back Home” experience. This is the perfect program for any older camper looking for a short-stay overnight experience.

CAMP WALDEN PROGRAMS

Two notable programs offered by Camp Walden are: 

• The Walden Long Weekend – This 3 night experience for campers who have completed Grade 1, serves as wonderful taste of what Camp Walden has to offer. From travelling on a coach bus to living in a typical camper cabin, the Walden Long Weekend is a great experience. Throw in meals in the dining hall with the entire Walden community and activities all around camp and your child will have the time of their life. The program is geared to children who have never been to overnight camp before and more details can be found by visiting the Camp Walden website.
• Home & Away – Our ultimate transition program is “Home & Away”. This unique program combines two weeks at Robin Hood with two weeks at Camp Walden under the supervision of Robin Hood staff who make the trip with our campers. This fantastic month of camp is available to campers who have completed Grade 2.

BENEFITS TO ROBIN HOOD CAMPERS AT WALDEN

Some priority is given to Robin Hood campers in their application to Walden programs.  All Walden applications are considered in the following order: 

1. Siblings of enrolled Camp Walden campers
2. Children of Camp Walden alumni who Worked at Camp Walden in 2004 or later, and whose camper attended Camp Robin Hood the previous summer.
   1. Worked at Camp Walden in 2004 or later, and whose camper attended Camp Robin Hood the previous summer.
   2. Worked at Camp Walden in 2004 or later, and whose camper did not attend Camp Robin Hood the previous summer.
   3. Worked at Camp Walden in 2003 or before, and whose camper attended Camp Robin Hood the previous summer.
   4. Worked at Camp Walden in 2003 or before, and whose camper did not attend Camp Robin Hood the previous summer.

BENEFITS TO WALDEN STAFF ALUMNI AT CAMP ROBIN HOOD

• Starting in September 2025, a 5% discount will be applied to all Camp Robin Hood programs attended by children of Walden Staff Alumni.
• Start their camp journey at a day camp with other Walden alumni campers intending to send their kids to Camp Walden.
• Piece of mind knowing that both camps are operated with the same commitment to care, communication and customer service.
