Canoe - Week 2

Posted in Canoe on 07/15/2016

This week, the campers took on the canoe staff challenge! Our staff decided that the paddles for the canoes were too heavy and clunky and so we challenged the campers to do one lap around the canoe island using only their hands for paddles. We also had the opportunity this week to learn Paddleboating basics.

Camp Craft - Week 2

Posted in Camp Craft on 07/15/2016

Camp Craft welcomed our campers back this week with s’mores. Nothing says camp more than making s’mores around a campfire! There were lots of gooey fingers and chocolate smiles during this week’s visit. We also learned camp survival skills with Senior Options, like fire and shelter building.

Arts & Crafts - Week 2

Posted in Arts & Crafts on 07/15/2016

Arts and Crafts is a great way to get campers engaged creatively and constructively. This week, our Juniors made 3D Hot air balloons using construction paper and string, and our Inters and Seniors created a beach scene using foam or felt. With a theme focused on summer welcomes, throughout the week we made flip flops, pineapple thumbprints, spray bottle art and sun paintings!

Low Ropes - Week 2

Posted in Low Ropes on 07/15/2016

At Low Ropes this week campers had the experience of learning how to be “spies”. Campers got to do activities like getting through a laser grid without being caught. They also learned how to swing from “building” to “building”. For those who came to Low Ropes more than once, we had pirate activities.

Archery - Week 2

Posted in Archery on 07/15/2016

This week was Camp Robin Hood Olympic Archery week. During this week, we taught our campers to shoot classic targets, to see archery as a sport and become engaged with the activity and to practice for oncoming weeks. For Options, the campers had the chance to compete for the Archery Challenge Cup.

Who you gonna call? Germ Busters! “Germbusters” was in full force this week; in full “germ buster” apparel, we got our campers jamming to our theme music (which coincidentally sounds very similar to the Ghost Busters theme)! Hand washing was the focus of this theme. With the use of GlowGerm Potion and a blacklight, we showed our campers how to practice good hand washing. We also discussed when and why we should wash our hands as well as how germs are spread. Congratulations to our “Germbusters” grads!
