The “Not So Angry Birds” at POW this week learned to appreciate our 5 senses with and to…
SMELL with our nose
SEE with our eyes
HEAR with our ears
TASTE with our tongue
TOUCH with our hands
Many bird feeders & nests were made in hopes of attracting birds such as Red Wing Blackbirds and the beautiful American Gold Finches, as seen here at CRH!
This week’s winner of the Cutting Veg or Fruit contest is Raya H. from JG-5! The answer was horseradish. Congrats!

At POW this week for Mad Science Week, we used a black light and fake germs to illustrate proper hand washing! Campers learned the “when”, “how” & “why” behind hand washing. They also learned other best practices for staying healthy, like coughing and sneezing in your sleeve, not in your hands. Slime and bug making were also two other activities from this week!
So folks, bottom line, if you want to stay healthy, wash your hands!
This week’s winner of the “Cutting Fruit or Veg” contest is Benji N. from SB1! Congrats!

This week was triathlon week at land sports. The biking portion was performed on scooter boards, where they raced with other campers. The running portion was done in an obstacle course. The swimming portion took place on a blue tarp while army crawling under ropes (“imaginary swimming”). We hope the campers loved it and look forward to next week!
Posted in Farming on 07/15/2016
This week we had a unique experience at Farming. Extra-terrestrial beings caught our garden activity in their radars and were curious about our garden here on Earth. They kidnapped a garden staff and demanded that the campers collect a series of files to be sent up to them in order to document the garden so they could learn more. Our campers were able to collect all of the files, get clues from the aliens and found our staff! Campers also had the opportunity to be garden super heroes by weeding the garden beds.

Bring forth the elephants and grab some popcorn… this week was circus week! Our campers put on a circus show with spinning plates, juggling, ribbons and hoola hoops. Once the skills were learned, they completed a circus circuit complete with aerobatics, a swinging rope, trapeze and tight rope. It was pretty incredible.

CAMP DANCE WEEK: The program was centred around teaching the brand new Camp Dance! We played a game in which all the cabins at camp competed with one another to see who knew the camp dance best.

This session at music we introduced campers to music recording. We began by recording campers singing various camp songs (like Hands Are Strong, Campity Camp) and Junior Flagpole. We then began recording “Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber, and “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake.
We also reintroduced African Drums to our campers. We summarized the fundamentals, and introduced new rhythms.
We also created a “Message of the Day” for the campers to discuss during recording traditions. One message this week was “Share the love, love is power, love is all you need.” Campers take turns sharing their ideas on the message of the day, lead by Matt & Glenn.

Theatre Arts is always an interesting place to be because of the level of creativity and enthusiasm that we get from our campers. This week our main activity was to dress up in costumes and we made sure that our acting was accompanied by working on sound effects. Campers were given a list of sound effects and needed to incorporate them into their own short skits. During these skits, they would dress up in costume. Through this, we learned the many different ways sound effects could be incorporated into different scenes.
Posted in Climbing Wall on 07/15/2016
This week at the wall campers got the opportunity to save pictures of their section head from the top. All of our section heads were returned safely before the start of our treasure hunt in week 2. Each camper got to climb every wall to save as many section heads as possible.
Posted in Nature on 07/15/2016
At nature this week, each section had the chance to come by and do the Jungle Run, which is an obstacle course to see how animals move around in the jungle (or forest). It was a lot of fun for all the campers. We also had the opportunity to learn about how animals eat, sleep and interact with one another and we got to see a new area of camp and spend time in the forest. Lastly, we did a nature walk, on which we learned how to use a compass and look at different plants.
