Camp Robin Hood is committed to minimizing health risks and providing campers with an amazing summer experience in 2022! These policies have been put in place after reviewing current provincial and municipal public health recommendations, as well as consulting with our Camp Robin Hood advisory team.

Please read below for an overview of our most frequently asked questions related to COVID-19.

1) WHY IS CAMP ROBIN HOOD MAINTAINING A VACCINE MANDATE FOR CAMPERS 5 & OLDER?
Despite recent government announcements related to proof of vaccination requirements, Camp Robin Hood will still be requiring all eligible campers and staff to be fully vaccinated. More details about our policy and our rationale can be found here.
2) WILL I BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE AND SUBMIT A DAILY HEALTH SCREEN FOR MY CHILD?
We will no longer be requiring families to complete and submit a daily health screen (i.e. the OPN app in 2021). However, we ask that all campers and staff be guided by the current COVID-19 day camp, school and child care screening tool. It is our hope that all families and staff will be truthful when completing their at-home screening each morning before leaving for camp.

Camp staff will be trained to monitor and identify those campers who are not feeling well throughout the camp day. When necessary, campers will be assessed by our Health (Robin Aid) team.

3) WHAT IF MY CHILD DOES NOT PASS THE SCREENING I DO AT HOME?
If a camper or staff does not pass the health screen, they should not attend camp. Families must contact the camp office ASAP to inform the camp for the reason of the absence either by e-mail to office@camprobinhood.ca or by calling 416-736-4443. Your family will be contacted by our camp staff during that day to discuss the return to camp plan.

If a household member tests positive for COVID-19, it is strongly recommended that the camper or staff also remain at home. The camp office must be notified of the household member testing positive for COVID-19. The camper/staff should also test themselves. If the camper/staff tests negative they will be allowed to come to camp, as long as they remain symptom-free.

4) WILL MY CHILD BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK AT CAMP?
Our 2022 daily camp program is designed to maximize outdoor activities. Campers and staff will not be required to wear masks when at camp. Our staff will be required to wear a medical grade mask when travelling on our well-ventilated buses however mask-wearing for campers, is optional. We are very supportive of anyone who chooses to wear a mask, for whatever reason. Please inform the camp office in writing at office@camprobinhood.ca so we can make sure our staff are aware and we have processes in place to support your decision. Please send enough masks for the full day.

Campers who have signs and symptoms in-line with COVID-19 will be required to wear a mask upon arrival at Robin Aid (the camp health centre) and while isolating at camp prior to pick-up. Medical masks will be provided in these instances.

5) WILL MY CHILD'S CABIN GROUP BE COHORTED/SEPARATED FROM OTHER GROUPS DURING THE DAY?
We are excited to return to our typical scheduling and programming! Campers will spend the majority of their day with their cabin group, following their cabin schedule. There will be times during the day (i.e. at certain activities and swim), where campers may be mixing with others within their age group.
6) IS CAMP PROVIDING RAPID ANTIGEN TESTS?
Camp Robin Hood is happy to provide each camper with a Rapid Antigen Test kit (including 5 tests) to use as needed during their stay with us. One (1) kit will be provided to each camper on their first day and is to be used when needed throughout the summer. Our supply is limited, therefore we ask that you ONLY use these tests as it relates to your child’s attendance at camp. See below for more details on our recommended use of Rapid Antigen Tests.
7) WHAT IS CAMP ROBIN HOOD'S APPROACH TO SANITIZATION & CLEANING?
Camp Robin Hood continues its commitment to daily cleaning and sanitization of our entire facility. We will use our best practices from 2021 with a continued emphasis on consistent hand hygiene for all campers and staff.
8) WHAT IF MY CHILD HAS OR DEVELOPS COVID-19 SYMPTOMS DURING THE CAMP DAY?
Any camper or staff who develops COVID-19 symptoms during the day will be seen and assessed by one of our Robin Aid staff and may need to be sent home from camp. We ask families to be prepared to pick-up their child within 1 hour of being contacted in order to minimize the potential spread of illness to others. While awaiting pick-up, campers and staff will be supervised by a member of our Robin Aid team in a designated outdoor area. During this time, the camper and/or staff will be required to wear a medical mask provided by camp.

9) WHEN CAN MY CHILD RETURN TO CAMP, IF THEY MUST REMAIN HOME?
If your child is at home or picked up from camp due to COVID-19 symptoms, we ask that your camper rest at home for the remainder of the day. In order to return to camp, your camper must have two (2) at-home Rapid Antigen Tests (the first one 24 hours after initial onset of symptoms and the 2nd on day 2 before leaving for camp). Please see table for details:

DAY 0DAY 1DAY 2
Onset of symptoms (camper sent home from camp)Conduct Rapid Antigen Test (24 hours after the initial onset of symptoms)
*if it is positive contact camp
*if it is negative proceed to Day 2

Conduct a 2nd Rapid Antigen Test prior to leaving for camp

If the day 2 Rapid Antigen Test is also negative your child may return to camp as long as: 1) their symptoms are improving AND 2) they have not had a fever for at least 24 hours (without fever-reducing medication) and they have been not had any vomiting/diarrhea for at least 48 hours.

10) WHAT IF MY CHILD TESTS POSITIVE ON A RAPID ANTIGEN TEST?
A positive Rapid Antigen Test confirms that your child has COVID-19. You must notify camp immediately. Your child must self-isolate for 5 days and our health team will confirm the earliest return date for your child. If you have other children attending camp please take appropriate precautions at-home and monitor them for COVID symptoms.
11) IF MY CHILD DOES MISS A DAY DUE TO COVID-19, DO I GET A REFUND?
It has always been our goal to partner and work together with you to determine if our summer program is the most suitable for your child. When you choose to enroll your child at Camp Robin Hood, you are reserving space, time, supplies and staffing. In many ways, the commitments we make to site preparation, camp equipment, health and safety supplies, bussing, and personnel are in place by June 1st. So in many ways, camp really starts weeks before our first campers arrive.

Once camp begins, it is our policy that no refunds or credits will be given for any incidental absences or missed days. However, in the event that a camper is required to stay home from camp due to COVID-19 public health directives, the following policy will be in place:
